Safety first.
We recommend using a desktop or laptop computer when creating your wallet. Mobile devices have a much higher chance of being hacked, since you carry it on your person.
01: Download Metamask
Visit Metamask.io and click "Download Now".
(For security purposes, we highly recommend setting up your wallet on a desktop computer instead of a mobile device.)
02: Install Application
At the top of the page, select the platform/browser that’s right for you.
Then, click “Install MetaMask” to open the app store.
03: Add Metamask to your browser
Click “Add to Chrome”.
When the pop-up appears, click “Add extension”.
04: Create your wallet
Click “Get Started”, then choose “Create a Wallet”.
05: Agree to terms
Agree to the terms and conditions.
06: Make a password
Create a password.
Watch the educational video.
Click “Next” to proceed.
07: Record your Recovery Phrase
View and write down your Secret Recovery Phrase, then click “Next”.
This is the most important step — DO NOT lose your recovery phrase! We recommend writing it down on a physical piece of paper (that you can store in a safe place) and recording it in a highly secure password management app like Bitwarden.
08: Input Recovery Phrase
Input the seed phrase you just wrote down.
Confirm.
09: View your wallet
Read the tips, then click “All done”.
You are now viewing the interior of your MetaMask wallet.
10: Pin Metamask for easy access
Pin the plugin to the top of your browser.
Click on the icon to view the quick view of your wallet.
Voilà! You've just created your first digital wallet!
